Training begins for Dirty Kanza 200!!! 01/31/2010
Hot Springs had ice and snow over the last couple of days. The sun popped out today, so we decided to get out on the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail. The trees were covered with ice and there was snow covering the forest floor. The temperature stuck in the upper 30's. It was a great ride. Add Comment Womble Trail 01/29/2010
An Epic trail in Arkansas: Lake Ouachita Vista Trail Map 01/28/2010
One of my favorite fun rides, some smooth rolling, some steep, rocky rooty, and if you go out and back you get almost 40 miles. Dirty Kanza 01/27/2010
Sitting at home Monday morning looking through my emails, I came across an email from a fine fellow I met at the Red River Riot on the previous Saturday. Ah, Shannon was chosen as the most worthy rider of the day and was awarded a Team T.B.S. jersey. I did not have his size on hand and told him to email his info to me, then I would forward on a jersey to him. The end of his message back said "happy trails and we'll see you at the dirty kansa 200 see'ins how you have an entry now." It was a great race and bumpin' after party (see pictures from last post for after party shots)! I did have a few of the Ska Brewing Imperial IPA variety of wonderful craft brews (10%ABV) that were provided, but did I really misplace a memory as important as this or as my wife said "you just blocked out such an insane undertaking"? Apparently so, whichever it was, because I got a second and a third email from two others I met there that were excited about the Dirty Kanza entry I acquired while at this wonderful event! Now I am psyched about the 200 mile self-supported gravel grinding bike ride. What do I do? What do I need? I'll figure all that out later, but for now I am riding, riding and riding until June. Good thing I have a few events planned between now and then to keep me motivated: Spa Extreme 6 hour here in Hot Springs, Arkansas and of course the epic Ouachita Challenge (60miles Saturday for the Tour and 60 miles Sunday for the Race). The trainer is set up to get some bad weather hours of pedaling in, and there are thousands of gravel roads around here to jump on when I can get out. I WILL be ready to conquer this challenge by June 5th! make your butt happy Adam Pictures from Red River Riot 01/26/2010
